• 700,000 Americans live with primary brain tumors, of which 29% are malignant.

  • An estimated nearly 25,000 Americans will be diagnosed with malignant brain tumors in 2023.

  • It is estimated that nearly 19,000 will die from brain tumors in 2023.

  • Glioblastoma multiforme is the most common primary malignant brain tumor, accounting for about 50% of all malignant brain tumors. Median survival is 8 months.

  • Brain tumors are the most common solid cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related death in children age 0-14.

 

National Brain Tumor Society “unrelentingly invests in, mobilizes and unites the brain tumor community to discover a cure, deliver effective treatments, and advocate for patients and caregivers.” Efforts are directed toward neuro-oncology and industry research to develop new treatments and technology to find a cure, advocacy for brain tumor patients and families, expanded patient access to new treatment trials, increased survival with improved quality of life, and increased federal funding for brain tumor research.
